Engineers Day is celebrated every year in India in memory of the great Indian engineer Bharat Ratna Sir M. Vishweshwaraiah. M Visvesvarayya was a great engineer and he was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1955 for his excellent work.

Vishweshwariya has a huge hand behind the successful construction of the rivers, bridges and drinking water of many rivers across the country. Due to these, the problem of water in the country was overcome.

Visvesvaraya is known for the design and planning of the Jayanagar area in southern Bengaluru. One of the best-planed layouts in Asia is Jayanagar, which was designed by Vishvesh Vayya.

India prepares 20 lakh engineers every year

If talking about the situation of engineers in India, then India prepares 20 million engineers every year, which includes computer science, electronics, civil and mechanical engineering. India is the world's leading country in the field of IT and therefore there are huge numbers of IT engineers.

According to a report, 60% out of eight lakh students studying engineering in all the technical education institutes of the country remain unemployed every year.

In 2016-17, 66 percent of IIT graduates did not get campus placements. This figure was 79 percent in 2015. Whereas in 2014-15 this figure was 78 percent.

Visvesvaraya was born in a Telugu family on 15 September 1861 in Chikkaballapur Taluk, in Kolar district of Mysore (Karnataka).
His father's name was Srinivasa Shastri and mother's name was Venkachamma.
Visvesvaraya completed primary education only from birthplace For further studies, he took admission in the Central College of Bangalore.
Visvesvaraya attained the top position in BA examination in 1881.

After this, with the help of the Mysore government, he enrolled in the science college of Poona for engineering studies.
After introducing the first position in the examination of LCE and FCE of 1883 (BE Degree of the present time), he introduced his abilities.
Due to this achievement, the Government of Maharashtra appointed him as Assistant Engineer in Nashik.

Visvesvaraya was one of the main reasons for the poverty and difficulties of the people.
During his tenure, he increased the number of schools in Mysore state from 4,500 to 10,500.
With this, the number of students also reached from 140,000 to 3,66,000.
Visvesvaraya is also credited for opening a separate hostel and first first-grade college (Maharani College) for girls in Mysore.


Bharat Ratna

He believed in completing any work in a planned manner.
For the first time in 1928, Russia understood the importance of this and prepared the first five-year plan.
But Visvesvaraya had emphasized this fact in his book Reconstructing India in 1920, eight years ago.
In addition, in 1935, Planned Economy for India was also written.
In 1955, he was awarded the highest honor of the country, Bharat Ratna for his unprecedented and public achievements.
